Default Cam + Tune = Hp spike?????

I've searched and I haven't found an explaination.

A friend of mine has B16 (USDM Sir) and it comes with stock 160hp to the fly. This friend of mine bought an ECU (I don't remember the name) and some Spoon cams. He got his car tuned and it's (supposedly) putting out 190hp to the wheel. Now, I don't know that much about cams (I know more about suspension) but that sounds a little......hard to believe. Has anyone heard about this happening to any of their friends are possibly their own car? If so what's the science?

Note: I've driven in his car before and after the tune and it definately pulls harder but I'm not sure if it's a whole 30hp to the wheel more

Thanks in advance.

To get a B16 to 190whp takes more than cams and a tune.

Meaning that I haven't seen the dyno sheet so this is merely what he's telling me

Why lie to a "friend" about what your car is outputting? It doesn't make any sense. Now, I have heard of awesome tunes putting out good number i.e. K20A3 with Type-S cams and a K-Pro putting out 193hp to the wheels after a tune. That's because the K-Pro alone will put a K20A3 at 175hp with a tune. Lying for no reason or any reason is lame

Especially with Spoon cams, they are a small step up from a type r profile. I think someone's wolfin....you can go to Burger King for a Whopper anytime you want

I have seen 3 B16s in the 200 whp neighborhood. One was Omniman's. Those motors had a little more than Spoon cams.
