91DA suspension/steering help
Car: was orignally 91 ls 2dr auto. converted to 5spd using a used tranny out a 93 with the help of D2motorsports. kept the auto ecu and cluster. its lowered on very bad tokico blues wit some springs. stock axels, was going to replace within the next week due to a knock everytime i move from a complete stop. most of the bushing are ending there life, it has 168xxxx with a 35k rebuilt head. tranny has 120-130k on it.
so heres the problem. like i said i get a knock/thud coming from behind my dash more centered on the axel on the right side that is really bad when first moving from a complete stop. then there is an intermitten knock behind my dash from the say area. i jacked up the teg today and gave ti a look. the axel boots on both sides seem to be in fine working condition, but ver very old. the right boot on the rack and pinion is complete ripped around the base of the rack. i also noticed the top bolt (12x30x1.25) on the front tranny mount was missing, that i purchased and am going to install once the car cools and i can take the top raditor house/fan/etc off and install it.
so i know im oging to have to replace my rack and pinion if i wanted to keep my ps or just take it out all together and save minimal amount of pointees, and that im going to have to replace my axels next week when i do my pads/rotors. so what else could be or is causing this problem im hearing every 30-60 seconds. could it be the rack and pinion? could it be where the axel connects with the tranny? is there any other part that might be damaged that could be causing this?
any help would be great!
