Default alternator removal..?!

I have a 97 gsr..having trouble taking the alternator out. which is the best and easier way.. and can anyone direct me to a thread that has diagram pictures of how to remove the alternator out of the damn engine bay!! HELP!!

Buy the alternator, take it to a local shop and have them do it. How are your mechanical skills? It's not that hard but if your mechanical skills are'nt that great you might get frustrated. I did it on my 95' GSR last year, while I was at it I changed the belts, water pump, and timing belt. If your still planning to do it yourself it's not as bad as it looks, you just have to loosen up the motor mounts to get that bitch out.

hmm...i was thinking that too..some what mechanical..but yah i had a feeling i would get frustrated doing it since i couldnt take it out of the car. lol

i did my alternator on my 91 on sunday....

it involved taking the driver side axle out, then the alternator bracket off, and the the alternator could slip out from the bottom...

look for the thread about using a 1/2" ratchet to seperate the balljoint to remove the axle

i just took a look at it again, can't i just take off the top mounting bracket off? it looks like it will come out with having to move the brake mc. ?!

unbolt the alternator adjusting mount. i believe its two 14's. then take it out.

Don't forget to mark it with the engine with white out.

thanks!..but i was able to pull out the alternator by removing the top mounting bracket then it just easily slipped out! Thanks yall!

nope, had them all done by a friend and/or friend's shop. Never worked on the alternator before, cuz never needed to till now. Lot of hardwork, time, patience and $$$ put into the cars I have. But soon to get another ride 02 or 03 AP1 S2K hmm..
