i have a 98 civic lx sedan, still has the y7 w/ slushbox. usualy happens in the rain but has done it once or twice on nice day... ill be driving/accelarating when the car will start to studder, feels like its just hittin a wall and cant go ne more... loud clicking/sputtering sounds, then it bogs down to 2k/ real low rpms, if you keep driving it spits out massive amounts of smoke and eventually will die out... also, sometime, will surge at idle will bounce from 1k - 2k rpms.... also has a problem overheating but i am going to replace the thermostat cause its only like $10...

HELP PLEASE, i need it to last until i get a swap done... HELP!!!!!

 

If it usually happens when it rains, there is a strong possibility that it's your ignition wires, that's probably the snapping sound as well.

 

I think its about time for a tune up

 

got new plugs and wires, problem still there... ???

 

maybe check the coil and even the distributor?
