spoon/mugen headgasket worth it?
I have a Spoon 2-ply on my B18C5 with OEM pistons and head. The difference is really not noticeable. On the other hand, if you need to replace your head gasket due to some other type of work on the car anyway, you might as well go with a 2-ply or even a 1-ply. The CR increase is definitely there just not as feelable as you may expect. I guess it will be more obvious when I add more parts (cams, head work, etc.). The gasket's quality is good and the seal is perfect as you may expect from Spoon.

i did the same on my Si...bumped it up around .2 and i can definitely feel a small difference.
btw...here's a good compression calc

If you're pulling the head (just to replace a gasket) and you really want to increase CR, save your pennies and do it right - PISTONS.
Milling the head or decking the block do it, too... but it is a one way street and it is a consequence of the procedure more than its purpose. Milling/decking is done to correct warpage and true the head/block, but as a consequence of removing materieal, you raise CR.
High Compression pistons may be more expensive and more involved, but it's the best way to raise CR.

Spoon head gaskets are manufacture by race division of Honda. The 2P head gasket offers 1 thinner layer and 1 thicker layer. This design to provide better sealing and eliminate vibration between head and block during high rpm. Quality is definitely over stock and IMO is definitely worth it.
