Am I on crack??
I have owned 7 CRX's and currently have 3.
I was going to change my valve cover gasket on my 1990 HF and when I took the cover off I saw 16 valves.
Now my first CRX was a 1988 HF and I owned that about 10 years ago and when I changed the valve cover gasket on that I could have sworn that it was an 8 valve motor. On top of that I seem to remember it had roller rocker arms too.
So my question is:
Am I on crack or is it early onset alzheimers?

The D15B6 head does indeed have 8 valves and roller-tipped cam followers.
Sounds like a previous owner swapped the head, or more likely, the entire engine (since PM8 pistons only have 2 valve reliefs). Have you checked the engine code and the head casting code?

That's a DX/LX engine.

So the HF 88 through 91 did carry the 8 valve motor then?
If so I am very confused.
The motor has the HF intake and exhaust manifolds. It also has the HF tranny and everything looks to be original.
I mean you can normaly tell when someone has been screwing aroung under the hood.
I guess whoever did the swap was good.
I bought it to get the claimed 50 mpg but I would think it would be less with that motor.
Do you have any idea if I would be even close with this combo?

I bought a HF motor, trans and a pile of other parts with 200k on Ebay for $525 shipped to my door. I ripped it apart and it looks pretty good. I am rebuilding it right now and have all the parts to do so.
That DX motor I have burns more oil than the Iraqies but I took it on a trip and it got 55 mpg. I was shocked as **** but it was all highway driving.
I'll take some pics during the rebuild.
