Default cutting hoods

i realy haven't found any c/f hood that i want to put on my car other than the oem one but its so plane. i was thinking of getting the oem and making it my own.

does anyone have any experience in cutting carbon fiber or know of any place that is able to do it.

i got some sick ideas but don't want to spend 400+ on a hood and then ruin it.

oh i see.

i would probably use a mini air saw with a nice sharp blade. keep the hole about a 1/2" smaller than the scoop all the way around.

You need to be really carefull when cutting CF, there are reports of getting fibers in your lungs and them getting cut to hell. Do a lot of search around before you do this.

it's not going to matter much if it's good quality. i could see some problems if the hood wasn't very thick. cf is sort of like fiberglass, only stronger

All that work for getting air for your CAI? Do you do any drag racing or auto-x or anything like that? People running huge horsepower cars don't even do this. They ussually do more subtle things, like use a headlight hole.

thanks for the concern, i will deff becareful. this isn't something i'm just gunna go ahead and do. i know their are a lot of risks in effin up the hood and turing it into a worthless piece of junk but no one has what i want.

once the cuts are made what should i use to seal the inner edges?

hardly...more along the lines of a racer whos got ***** and the money and tries new things rather than asking mommy and daddy for help. i'd rather create something new than wait for it to be built.

i'm not asking anyone to like or aggree with my idea. just knowledge in cutting CF.

no rice here buddy.

alright you got the cutting stuff taken care of but what about the adding part? would it really look right with an extra layer of cf slightly over the existing layer on the borders of the scoop. and then trying to match the weave pattern, forming the scoop, matching weave direction. theres alot to it and its complicated.

it is complicated as far as cutting and not destroying the hood but as far as matching up the cf pattern thats the least of my worries. if it looks that bad i'll just paint it black to match my car. it shouldn't be that noticeable anyway.
