Default Pictures of the velocity stack inside the Mugen intake?

I've been reading reviews of the Mugen intake, and it seems that people keep referring to a velocity stack inside of the unit, but I can't find any pictures to show this!

Anyone have a picture of this handy?

So, the velocity stack isn't a part of the fiberglass/carbon fiber?

They sell a velocity stack adapter on the sponsors forum! Kinda pricey though

First of all, the intake is only fiberglass... no carbon fiber. The velocity stack goes onto the intake tube, the filter sandwiches between the v-stack and air box. This gets tightened down with a clamp that fits around the joint where the 3 come together.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why they charge $900 for that stupid thing. I also cannot figure out why nobody has copied it in ABS plastic w/ a carbon fiber layover on the cover yet either. Even the Velocity stack could be ABS. That thing looks like it should cost about $50...

I do understand it requires some R&D and stuff, but come on...

THank you!

Wow, I never knew the unit wrapped so tightly around the filter.

The comptech unit actually has some free space around the filter, right?

Having a gap would kinda defeat the purpose.

It doesn't cost $900. I imagine there are no replicas because of this copyright thing. Besides, why you want a 'fake' Mugen part?

It is not like there isn't any space in there.

In what regards?

<---always wanted to "add" to the J's and put a velocity stack on it, as well as a cold air extension.

Ooops, I guess it's only $715 (at King')...

That is still pretty expensive (for me). IMO I cannot see any reason why these parts should be made of hand laid fiberglass. They are not load/pressure bearing in any way. And as far as "fake" goes, if the item makes power, then who cares that it doesn't say Mugen on it? Mugen is just a name, and along with that name comes a ridiculous markup. I don't really think it matters who makes it as long as it works, and I know there are people out there that would agree with me...

I just wonder how there is 10,000 companies that sell Recaro "style" seats & Spoon "style" lips, and they never have problems with copyright? How does Password copy J's & get away with it?

Time to play with some fiberglass.

Since I don't want to spend 700 on a test mold, I think i'll buy the icebox and work from there.
