Default koni/neuspeed race

Just installed it...not very happy with it due to not much room for suspension travel, and it is on the top perch on the koni. The rear is extreme way too soft.
Now i'm looking into full suspension kit. And my Koni is set at hardest 2, 1/2 turns? and it is way way too soft

spend the money and get a better spring.. ive been using the neuspeed springs for about year now and in that time my rear has fatigued out and it handles like ****.. saving up now for some nice D2s or Teins. Also remember that Koni's are only rebound adjustable not compression..

peace=-

I also have the koni yellow SP3 shocks with neuspeed springs and I don't feel that the spring is stiff enough for me either, the factory s2000 suspension seems stiffer from the factory than my setup, I also agree that there is not much suspension travel(although the SP3 uses a shortened stroke) I was thinking that the springs were going to be stiffer, mine will hit the bumpstops easily and I'm also using the highest perch

i personally don't have the springs on the highest perch. I have the regular yellows and my rears are on the middle perch and my fronts are on the top setting perch. rides perfect for me

My car definitely still has some body roll with the neuspeed race springs and koni yellows, all other suspension components are factory right now. I am in search of a stiffer spring now, I heard that the koni's cant too high of a spring rate, but they must be able to handle something higher than what I have now, because for some reason an s2k or an evo 8 factory suspension feels stiffer than mine, I also have factory sway bars right now, maybe theres something wrong with my springs? No one else feels this way?

well, I dont have much to spend on suspension... but would anyone recommend the neuspeed race springs to me as a first set of springs? Or should I look into another company?

I have Neuspeed race springs on my '93, not sure how old they are since they were on when I bought the car, also still on stock shocks, which do need replacing. I feel the spring rate is really good, I just need better control from my shocks, so I am planning to do Koni Yellows also. For the guy wanting to know, I say yes they are a decent spring for the price, and later on if you want alot more, then save up for good high quality coilovers.

wait a second, you guys are talking about adjusting your struts for stiffness and getting a stiff ride, I have my struts pretty stiff, but if you have the neuspeed race springs on the yellows and all you do is turn the stiffness up all the way, yes you will have a very rough ride, but that does not necessarily make the car handle well, I feel that the neuspeed race spring does not have enough force to allow the koni yellow to be set on the maximum stiffness, try hitting some bumps around some turns and see how well your tires stay in contact with the road. I bought a suspension for better handling not better looks, but anyway thats just my opinion and I am not able to judge how they compare to any of the other springs, I wish we could get to the bottom of this, like someone were able to find out and post the different spring rates

if you like the feel of the car with those springs i would keep them and try getting an aftermarket rear sway bar. my progress bar made all the difference through the twistys. your shock spring setup sounds like it would perform fairly well.

why you try to find some used coilover kits? i found my tein HA's for $600. My front and rear is lowered to the last notch and stiffness is set to about the middle and the ride is still great. barely any body roll.

hey same situation as me!!!........high school and broke, except I'm 16. I want to get some body work done, I got some rust and I tried to fix one of my quarter panels and it looks really wavy . well just thought that might make you feel better, but delivering pizzas makes me some good dough on the side

oh yeah but to stay on topic, my freind has them on his 92' that I drove, nuespeed with koni yellows, the body roll is pretty low but not like my ferinds eibach's with koni yellows, his seem to handle a bit better

Alright guys, here's the fun and exciting update...I happened to have two sets of Neuspeed race...and instead of ditching it both and go for something else...I used front springs (neuspeed race) all around including the rear...and holy ****....I'm nutting in my pants, It handles a **** load better!!! It ride a **** load better...The front springs in the rear eliminates understeer...No oversteer...makes it a perfect turning now and i can hear the squirling in the rear tires....On hard turns...high speed turns are perfect ballance...atleast to me

the neuspeed rear springs are freak'n rediculously soft before I was so **** off...and was gonna go with Ground Control but then i decided to try it out before I ditch two sets of my neuspeed race...

Though the front is still bottom'n out on on what not a half inch of bumpstop really hard...

Qustion: does the Koni SP3 comes with a high perch than the regular koni's does...cuz I'm currently on the top perch now and hoping that the SP3 has one or two more perch on top of the regular Koni.

2nd Question: Does anyone make custom springs? with custom spring rates? with custom heights? (for the front)I doubt it...but worth asking...or does anyone knows which spring has high spring rate than the neuspeed race?

All and all, I'm suprised at the fact that so many people like Nuespeed race and say they are happy with it...on top of it everyone say it performs well and stiff...to me the neuspeed race springs are crap...butter...No good for performance...I DO NOT RECOMMAND NEUSPEED RACE FOR PERFORMANCE APLICATION...like nuespeed claims and so everyones...the reason you got the car to handle better is the fact that you lower your center gravity..not cuz of the springs...if you gonna lower that much I have to say atleast, ATLEAST stiffen things up a lil...

But that's my opinion and thoughts at the moment...feel free to comment.

Edit: with the front springs in the rear...my koni is at 1.5 turns and it still damp those spring pretty good at. I was suprised at how smooth and comfortable with the front springs in the rear...I know it hard to believe but it feels as almost comfortable I gotta say thanks to Koni...never really appreciated them that much till now...

By the way the height on the rear is just like before...barely 1 finger gap and I look inside the springs it still have a lil more than 2 inches of shock travel...I'm suprised about that too...It might be a ted tinny lower once the springs are settle..cuz they are brand new...

yep same.
Until my shocks blow I'll just run the springs.

and to the guy needing bodywork- Im in the same boat. Trying to fix a hit and run, passenger door and right past the door (rear quarter panel) both dented pretty bad. And Im not sure yet what color to paint, either the same oe honda black, or maybe another color.

Back to the topic neuspeed race till the shocks blow. Not such a good strategy but hey Im makin do.

I'm aware that the SP3 Koni has 5 perch, but i'm wondering if any of those 5 perches are to raise the car up more than the original Koni...the original koni for the front has two perches and the top one would be stock height (as reference...) What i want to know if there are any of those perches that would raise the heigh up higher than the stock heigh perch(as referenced).

BTW, I've been riding on my set-up and it really put a smile on my face...only thing now is that i need something (hopefully the SP3 Koni) to raise up the front a lil bit so it will stop bottom'n out.

now that I am unsure of, if you take a picture of your car with the race springs on it using the highest perch I can show you one of my car on the higest perch also, although not very scientific i think we could guesstimate, I also had to compress the springs to get them on there, did you have to do the same?

ummmm.... i'm not too sure how safe it is to have a set of front springs in the rear, considering they're different spring rates and heights, etc etc.

but i had neuspeed sports and KYB AGX's for a year... it eliminated alotta body roll... then i threw neuspeed race's in two months ago, and now i have like 0% body roll. thing handles like a dream. NO strut or sway bars what-so-ever (well, stock sway bars)

but it sounds like the struts are the problem. cuz on the softest setting, my car feels a little stiffer than stock, and on the hardest setting, it feels like a friggin indy car.
plus the fact that i've never heard anyone complain about any of neuspeed's springs

so thats neuspeed race, still w/ agx's?
Ive heard lots of good about that combo, if/more like when the stock shocks blow, I'll get agx's... for now I gotta stay budgeted and only roll with the springs

you're now running approximately 400 lbs front and 400 lbs rear, that's why the handling is better All off-the shelf spring sets are too soft for the Prelude in my opinion (at least in the rear).

there's no reason that you should be bottoming out - are your Konis really old? abused? ever run without bumpstops?

If you want heigh adjustability without all this mess, why not get Ground Control coilover sleeves with 425lb or 450lb springs all around? quit messing with perches and all that stuff and set the front and rear exactly where you want it
