A little write up on painting body trim
OK so its my day off and i've been laying in bed for several hours after waking up. Then i came up with the genius idea of painting some of the faded trim on my CRX. But then i came up with an even better idea of making a gay little write-up. So here it goes...
Before, the black from the upper window frame faded away
place a piece of tape over the weatherstripping and slightly over the area thats being painted.
use your finger to push the tape into the crevice
heres what it should look like
not really nessecary but you can remove this trim piece and the mirror. I actually suggest not removing the pieces after the fact.
everything masked away
Crap i forgot i ran out of black spray paint after i sprayed my wheels. a few minutes of searching and i found that^^^. A rusty ol' can of black spray paint.
spray a light and even coat. Allow to dry and repeat... a couple times.
after
a closer shot. what a difference!!!

I just bought the 50 pair shoe rack, I like it.
Oh, the REX looks better, cool write up.

Any suggestions for painting the rear strip that goes across the top of the hatch near the roof?
I have tried to chip it off and leave it that polished look, but its like cake'd on there from years of sun exposure.

I was planning to paint that part also but if you look at my pic im gonna have to chip off the old paint first. cosmetic things are not really a priority on this car. lol the only reason i did the side window frame was cause i was bored.

I did my window frames last summer with Duplicolor Trim Paint. It was easy to do and turned out very nice. A notable improvement in appearance for such a subtle, quick task.
I prefer to use the blue or green painter's tape rather than regular white masking tape, because it doesn't leave any glue residue behind. Also, don't forget to wipe the surface to be painted beforehand with something like brake parts cleaner to remove any oils and other contaminants.

painters tape is much more resistant to letting paint seep under the tape. i didnt feel painters tape was nessecary because i was tucking the tape behind the weather stripping.
Wow you taped yours. I was really lazy and just rolled down the window all the way and open the door and just sparyed it flat black.
