Default Need help on proper harness install please...

I obviously have a roll cage but im pretty sure the previous owner half-assed the harness install? I know nothing about harness' but this doesnt look right to me.....

The belts are basically just looped around in a knot, took me all of 15seconds to undue the passenger one with almost no effort

I drive this car frequently on the street and want it to be safe. If you could explain to me the proper way as if i was a moron id appreciate it.

Wow, that's absurdly incorrect. Search in the archives though, this has been covered a gillion times.

Edit: Here ya go, I'm in a good mood https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=126561

thanks for the link, looks like a ton of work How did they get them neatly around the rollbar like that?

Would i be better off putting the seat belts back in? Im way too busy with work to figure this out and im only on a track once or twice a year...

Depends on how much of the seat belt stuff was removed and how--in short, on how difficult it would be to re-install the stockers.

A few holes and some backing plates is not a big deal, IMHO. I don't know if the sliders for your current seats have the provision for the stock recievers or not, but on my 90 CRX the belt recievers are attached to the seat rails. So you may find yourself needing to swap seats as well. So like I say, it depends on a lot of things....

Reinstalling stock belts would be cake, and it's SO much more convenient for street use. Harnesses are nice on track, don't bother on the street though. There are some underlying safety issues as well, which you'd figure out immediately once you start wearing a harness.

As far as installing the harnesses on the harness bar, it's actually not complicated at all. Should take no more than 20 minutes or so for both of them.

well the side mounts are bolsted to the car very solidly, its just the rear that seems wrong. So your saying its easily fixable? Id still be interested in going back to stock but i want it to be safe until i can do that.

Yeah, the shoulder harnesses are easily fixable. As long as you have the buckle thingy (you can see it in the pic on the passenger harness, it's a rectangular doodle with two slots in it), you can do it. On the S&M site they have pretty detailed pics of how to loop everything.

Don't forget to put some padding on that roll cage where your noggin might hit it...or wear a helmet

padded + helmet = ok

padded + no helmet = you still crack your skull open.

I hope you're not planning on daily driving this thing without a helmet.
