Anyone squeezed 225/35/18 or 225/40/18 on their 5th gen?
Well, my tires finally gave way, and in a way I am happy. When I bought the wheels (18x8 Advan Model 5 Imitations) they came with 215/35/18 tires. This went over poorly... There was next to no wheel protection. The tires seemed much thinner than the wheel was, leaving the wheel lip exposed.
Now that I am getting new tires I want to do it right. I want to have enough width to protect the lip of my wheels like a normal tire should. I figure 225 would work just perfectly, but I have concerns about clearance.
I drive an '01 5th gen. It's dropped between 1.5 - 2 inches on Ground Control coilovers (so if needed I could raid the car). Would it be possible to order some 225/35/18 or 225/40/18 tires and have them fit without scraping my fenderwell?
I'd prefer the 225/40's just because they tend to be a slight bit cheaper, but if they wont fit then 225/35's will do just fine.
So has anyone managed to squeeze 225/35/18 or 225/40/18 tires onto their 5th gen with no problem (or minimal problems)?
