Default brakes, need a little help

hey guys, just picked up a 93 si and the rear right caliper has seized. it has done it once before from what the seller has told me. he replaced it the first time, then the second time he has let the car just sit till recently when i picked it up.

can anyone give me any insight of why it might be doing this? i just picked up some gsr rear calipers and don't want it to happen again. is there anyway to check that line and make sure theres no trash in ther? thanks.

It is not uncommon for this to happen with the Si rear disc. Trust me I own one. First thing go to napa and get the slide pin kit and rubber guides for the rear caliper. You might have to get them for the delsol with rear disc. But they are available. Also pick up a good tube of caliper lube.Put the car up and remove the rear wheel. disconnect the ebrake line, now it gets tricky remove the to 14mm (i think) bolts from the caliper slide pins and hang the caliper out of the way(do not let it hang on the brake line) What you should see now is the caliper mount remove the 2 bolts that hold it to the rear suspension. What you should have in you hand will look a little like a H with the 2 slide pins in it. put it in a vice and use heat (torch) to help work the pins out. be careful not to brake the slide off. Once you get it apart. Use a ton of break cleaner get every thing good and clean on that part put your new seals in and lube the hell out of the new slide pins MAKE SURE TO SEAT THE RUBBER GUIDES INTO PLACE. or they will only seize again. If you have to push the puck back in it must be turned and pushed in or you will brake the ebrake mech. These calipers are not cheep take your time they run around $175 with a $100 core charge. Good luck and its a good idea to refer to a service manual for torque specs and more help

your welcome if you have any more ? I have had mine for 13 years. one thing I forgot you might find a water/ dirt shield covering the caliper. its held on by 2 10mm bolts. they tend to seize and brake when you try to take it off. You might find that the shield is already missing. Just make sure every thing is good and clean and you only use synthetic caliper lube on all the moving parts. this includes a little bit on the horns on the brake pads they should fit smoothly in there slides and not bind. You might have to grind the paint off the tabs to make them fit right
