Well.. i have a eg and this comptech exhaust is made for a dc, so the exhaust is a bit long... well the tip is. So i was thinking of cutting off the tip and shortening it about a inch and a half and welding it back on, or just cutting the whole thing completely off and weld on a slanted metal pipe as a tip. I was wondering if the sound difference will be a big difference.... if it will be worse if i just cut off the whole tip? I see the comptech tip does have some circles inside for sound purposes im guessing... but im not too sure, maybe some of you guys can help.
EDIT: my comptech exhaust has a longer tip then this... it extends about 2 inches then the tip starts, this pic it doesnt at all.

I would cut it at the crown of the tip (blue line) then hack off whatever will get you to the length you want (red line) then weld the two back together. As long as it's a good weld (going to have to grind the weld down and paint it) then it should look ok.
As far as sound, as long as you don't compromise the can itself then you'll be fine.
