tire question...track and off track..
Howdy, quick question.
Going to my first track day coming up soon and I am in dire need of some new tires.
First choice is the Falken Azenis. But...they seem very hard to come by lately.
My question, if those aren't available, what would be a good tire that could serve a dual purpose like the Azenis?
Thank you much.
btw, here are my specs:
2000 Hatch
16x7 +42 offset
Also, I kinda want to float around the $100 per tire area.

16" tires are hard to come by for the right sizes for a Civic. I recommend:
205/45x16" Kumho 712s
215/40x16" Kumho 712s
215/40x16" Yokohama A520s
205/45x16" or was it 215/40x16" Toyo T1S
Just to let you know the 215/45x16" Azenis are really 225/45x16" or maybe even 235/45x16" They are WIDE! They didn't fit on my Civic with a 16x7.5" wheel and 43mm offset. They might fit your car better with a 16x7" wheel.

I know someone that's basically running the same set up, 16x7 +45, and his Azenis don't rub too much. He just lifted it up a little bit and it was cool...
Does price matter? Will you get into more track stuff?
IMHO, you can spend some $$$ for dual purpose stuff like you are planning. That is a good choice. Second plan might be a set of ugly rims with low cost Kumhos. You may want to think about the second plan when you learn to out drive your street tires. the 16x7 wheels may run when you really start to push your skills and car to the edge!
Have fun, I was addicted after my first track day. I turned my wife's car into the ITA Civic it is now.
