Default Isnt This Kinda Odd???

Okay so i have a 1998 Honda Accord Coupe V6, and i just bought it about a month ago and have had no problems. ......yet. So before i bought the car I ran a carfax on it and nothing came up about any transmission maintance, and my car has 178,000 miles. So my question to u is....Should'nt there be something on there about transmissions on it? Because i thought the transmissions on this year where bad.. Or are there some "good" ones that last for ever? Just let me know what u think because to me this kind of seems fishy

Carfax does not report all the main't done to a car; it is used primarily to report any insurance or damage claims. Some dealerships are starting to report when cars come to them for service [invasion of privacy imho] but they do not detail what is done to the car.
Change that trans fluid with Honda Z-1 ATF every 15k miles if you like the car and want to keep it.

I will agree with HONDADUDE on his comment, its true! If you want to find out things about the car you will have to run a VIN status with a dealership if you would like to find out what was done to ur car just give me the VIN and i can run a vin stat. for you.

Ok sorry i took long to respond, i can only pull up major warranty jobs done and recalls from Honda, to get other vehicle maintenance and history go to dealer 206830 where ever that is i dont know, but this is what i found...
S/B 99-085 98-01 accord EGR port clog
S/B 02-031 97-99 Honda ignition swith
S/B 03-088 98-99 Accord/odyssey interlock
All these recalls were performed on the car, it says that the last name of the original owner is NEUNAN.

Heres yours but once again this is only a VIN status which pretty much tells where the car comes from, and when it is bought, and the history of service bulletins done to the car, if you want to find out service information done to the vehicle you can look up the dealer number find the dealer and have a service writer look up the service history from their personal records.
VIN-1HGCD7153RA051103
Selling dealer- 206892
miles at purchase- 123
engine # f22b11500738
warranty canel date 01/17/98
No records found

carfax is worthless. you can run the vin at any honda dealer and it will give you a record of every time the car has been to a honda dealer, but you have no idea what was done elsewhere. some trannies are good. like others said, make sure you keep up on tranny fluid changes and you're fine. as for what's been done, i don't give a **** what the previous owner says. if they don't have a receipt for the work, it was never done and they're a liar.

i once ran a car that said SALVAGE right on the title, just out of curiosity. carfax came back clean. carfax is useless.

V6ickspeed - isn't there some way to use the IN to figure out which dealer you're looking at? i know i've done it before, i can't remember how tho. maybe sales has different links?

ya just go to the honda dealer have them flush it and fill it , honda fluid is the best for your car.

DON'T flush it. just drain it and refill. if you're really **** then do it again 500 miles later. power flushes can actually damage your transmission.

When i pull up the VIN status it only gives the cars original PDI dealer number which you can figure out and maybe get more service information on your car.
