But you can also go with an H22A with bolt ons and get pretty close to 230 crank HP, probably more with some cams and tuning.
If you really want to hit those numbers, cheap and fuel efficiency should be the very last of your concerns. Do it once/do it right. Don't compromise.
Try searching for "MPG" because I think I had seen a thread like that before. Maybe it'll give you an idea of what other people get for MPG with different setups.

true, oh so true.
there are some bolt-on turbo's that can get you the additional 100 horses to the crank. Going for one of those setups directly will be the cheapest way of getting to your goal. however you miss out on a lot of fun taking shortcuts with your car.
