Default CRX RHD conversion bay area

like the title says im doing a right hand drive conversion, but im not gonna do it like everyone else by drilling the spot welds out im going to just cut a section out for the brake booster and pedal assembly. but i have a couple or questions first

the power steering rack and pinion. im staying d series and i dont not have power steering can i just let it run with no fliud and it just be like a manual sterring box?

other question the rear mount/x member is it the same hole location for d series as for b?

any response would be badass. im looking for ppl local to me to help, im willing to pay good money for some one who has done it before and can lend a hand.

You can import a CRX SIR for about 10 grand now you know? Don't kill a good LHD CRX, simply buy a RHD CRX.

You don't want to run a p/s rack without fluid. You can get a manual rack from a salvage yard for $50-75 with a core exchange, or you can simply loop the p/s rack to keep it lubricated. Lubrication is good. Always lube the rack.

i ended up looping mine together in my rhd crx. Unfortunately all the rhd rack/pinions are power steering... or at least i couldnt find a non-power steering one. I have seen some kind of reservoir here on h-t awhile ago that allows you to keep fluid moving throughout the rack/pinon, i'm sure if you search you can find the original thread.

I'm not a fan of the RHD conversion. If you want RHD, just import one. The EF is probably the easiest to import, anyway. By the time you track down a front clip and do all the work, put in all the time, you could be done registering the JDM car. They are on eBay quite often, sometimes already registered.

You can get a front clip for $350 from hmotors. Conversion costs around 1500-1800 labor. Hmm? Is that 10,000? Uhh no. I hate unhelpful comments.

Good luck with the conversion.

yeah isn't it like next to impossible to import an sir in CA, so seems like this is the only way to go. I say go for it, and hit me up when its done so I can come check it out. It sounds like a tough project though but anything is possible, would kind of suck going through drive-thru's though.
