brake pad question
here's the rundown, a friend of mine just did a brake swap on my car and the front brake pads weren't snug when he put them into the calipers. they have no play side to side but they have a little room to wiggle up and down. the front brake setup came from a 94/95 civic w/ ABS and i'm under the impression that the specs are identical to a 94+ gsr. the pads purchased matched either setup.
here's the question for all of u who own a car w/ the same front disc setup or have changed pads in one:
are the pads supposed to be snug or do they move up and down slightly?
i found the following pic on acuraautomotiveparts.com.
there is a clip (#12) shown in the illustration but neither majestic honda or the forementioned sell them for 94/95 civics w/ ABS or 94+ integras.
the side retainers (#17) are present but are the front calipers also supposed to have a center clip similar to the rear calipers to hold the pads down?
do u guys have this clip in ur front calipers or not?

all input is greatly appreciated.

brake pad movement up and down is normal but annoying. the easiest way to solve it is to put paper shims under the ss sliders until the pads are snug. a better way is with a vise and a hammer
lay the pads ear (end of pad without braking material) on the vise and hit the edge with a hammer to make a very small lip. if its still not snug enough do it to the other ear.

thanks for the tip and the illustration.
it's seems weird that they don't move at all side to side but have noticeable movement up and down.

the rear ones have a clip that holds the pads in place and i assumed the front ones would have them for the same reason the rear ones do.
