acura made the rsx trannies suck. theyre having a problem with their synchros meshing properly when shifting. it happens to everyone with a rsx. switch out the fluid with royal purple like me. got rid of about 99.9% of the grinding

its a timing issue with 5th and 6th gear. Take it to Acura and recreate the problem for a tech (which I've yet to be able to do, stupid car...) and they will replace the synchros. There is a service bulletin out for this. 2nd and 3rd gear grind, been there since 2003.

Changing the tranny fluid helps hide it for a bit though.

there was a TSB released BUT it technically only applied to the '02-'04 model within a certain VIN pool. I have the same issue, when the tranny's cold. Im switching out soon to the amsoil fluid i have sitting in the garage

just take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it. that is the best thing to do. don't ever go to ur local shop and waste ur time and money there cause they only fix older cars

the usdm trannies suck. they had recalls on the synchros and i recently tore the spider gears apart. I bought a type r trans and its geared perfect for me. there is no loss of power when changing into another gear

wait if you bought the type-r tranny wouldnt that be for the right hand drive setup?

or did you swap synchros out of the type-r tranny?

if its still under warranty take it to your local acura dealer if not its gonna be pretty expensive and no the type r trans is not only for right hand drive

I took mine to the dealer and they said i have to pay $85.00 just to get the car in and check. After that if the warranty don't cover whats wrong, I have to pay for it. Hey let me know if you guys have this problem at the dealer too.
