Default whats up with my rex? idle wont stop bouncing...

well recently i had a single v-tec mini-me put on by sumone who really didnt know what they were doing...

well heres the problem... all he did was change my head and the timing belt and thats it, thats why i figured it was redlining at like 5000' rpms, but then the idle was bouncing between 1000 and 2000 rpms like a vaccum line was unpluged... so i jss changed my head back to the old one... but he had my old head so when i put my old head back on it was fine n everything but the idle was still bouncing between 1000 and 2000... and white smoke is coming out my exaughst.. i have a d16a6... and i dont know what to do now... i bought a y8 head gasket and was gonna try that but then im thinkin that he may have given me a blown head back so should i jss go buy a new head b4 i put the y8 gasket on or is there sumthing im missing... whats wrong with it and how can i fic it... anything will help thnx for your input.... later yo'

well if you have the same idle problem with the a6 head but have white smoke, then why dont you just put on the y8 head, and find the idle problem then if you still have problems go buy another head. dont go buy another head and still have a idle problem

no its not like that... i have no vaccum line problems or anything i think the problem is because maybe both heads are warpped or sumthin and its makeing me loose compression and the loss of compression is acting like a vaccum line... im not really sure... i think the y8 head he put on might have been bad also.. i got jipped... so i dont reall know what to do now.. i dont know how to fix the problem or is the problem jss my head its self and if i change the head and put a new one on with the y8 gasket will the idles bouncing stop...?

did you try fixing your IACV or your FITV? both of these tend to make bad idle.

How about vacuum lines? Spray Carb cleaner all over and if the idle drops you know you have a leak.

Then i'd look into your timing.

Then i'd look at your TPS sensor.

hope that **** helps

peace,
Shane

Also i wouldn't use a y8 headgasket they have an extra oil passage i believe (coudl be wrong) eh I just prefer to use the d16a6 HG with a d16a6. Unless its a mini me

o i heard that y8 gasket with on an a6 will give you better compression ratios... and all that other stuff can you break it down a lil more sorry... do all my own work but not really sure of sumthings, and spray the carb cleaner where?

the wierd thing tho is b4 my head was changed my car ran perfect... i watched him all he did was change the head and didnt mess with anything else.. and hwen he was done [ i didnt know much about it then] the idle was bouncing and it rev'd to five but then i i figured everything about the mini-me setup and realized that he ripped me off... so i go and get my old head back from him and change it back my self i figured everything would stop after that but the bouncing idle stayed... so i dont know how to fix it considering all he did was change the head and the problem started... thnx for the advice tho, im still lost... i need to fix it tho so any more advice always helps...

Spray carb cleaner on your vacuum lines and around the intake manifold. it will be sucked in and will lower the idle if there is a leak.

TPS you measure the voltage (the middle wire) i think it needs to be between like 4.5v and 5v or something like that off hand.

Check your timing cuz you could have missed a tooth or something

Check the faq section for troubleshooting the IACV and FITV.

Sounds to me like you may have had a warped head to begin with.

Are you using the same HG from when the mini-me was done? If so you shouldn't.

And lastly bleed your coolant. I have personally forgotten to do this and then i have a bad idle. bled the coolant and it idles perfect now
