Cluster Needle recalibration
SoI had an Extral GSR cluter laying around so i decided the turn the mileage back to zero and to take the needles out to paint the yellow, but my problem is now is how to recalibrate the needles in all the gauges inside the cluster, can someone point me in the right direction.

Why not? I don't think he's stupid enough to sell it with zero miles on the odometer... and anyone that buys it isn't stupid enough to sell theirs with zero either, they'd roll it forward to their realistic milage.
Other than that, I don't see a reason why not?

No it's not. It's illegal to roll your odometer back, but it's not illegal to "mess with" one. What if you had to replace yours? Is it more legal to leave it at zero (new one) or with unactual miles (if you buy a used one), or to set it to the real milage? I'm wondering why he would roll it back to zero though, unless it's on a race car or something, because otherwise it's pointless because you can't use the cluster in anything without rolling it back up to the real milage. But still, we haven't been answering his question.

I took my cluster apart and painted the needles. I left them on the guages. The needles are VERY finicky and I beleive you can't recalibrate them. I ended up having to swap out my tach because I screwed up the needle when I painted it.

Messing with it in any way to alter it from showing the actual mileage of the vehicle even if you're rolling it back to show what you thought was the actual mileage can be iffy. You never know if your calculations are correct of if you're off by a few. Even if you bought a new cluster and changed the mileage on the odometer to reflect what your old one shows....its still changing/ altering the information. You never know if your old one intermittently stopped moving and started working again. After all, how often do you check it to make sure it got every mile? Mine did for about 10-15 miles and I just happened to notice it on a trip from Denver to Colorado Springs. Its working now but I'm not even going to bother touching it.
I know it sounds extremely stupid, but I didn't make the rules.

I'm not saying you should guess your milage and set it to that if it might be off for whatever reason, but I'm saying that if you have a cluster in your car that says, for example, 50,000 on it and you buy a different cluster, you will want to set that new cluster to 50,000 also.
Here's how to on the RPM and MPH(KPH)
Make sure your on a level surface.
Plug cluster back in with the 2 connectors (think thats right)
You dont have to rebolt down the cluster, just let it lay there.
Take your key and start the car.
Let it run for about 10-15 min (outside)
Take your 2 needles and snap them back into place BEHIND the black stop needles.
After that is in place, pull them over the stop needles w/o braking them.
That should set or MPH and RPM
If the RPM still isnt working right, you might have to try ^^^this with the RPM needle before you start the car.
Correct me if im wrong or forgot something.

cool, thanks, I dont plan on selling the car at all< i just wanted to do it, it was kinda of cool, and I just wanted to have a zero miles to keep actual mileage of the my rebuilt motor, thats all
