dizzy bearings?
anyone hear of them going bad? My car has been making a noise that sounds like a loose belt, and I've checked the alternator belt about 10 times, that's the only belt on the car. I was looking at the dizzy and it looks like it has turned all the way to one side. I don't have a light to check it but don't think it used to be that far off from center. I was told if the distributor bearings start to go bad it will sound like a sliping belt and the friction can retard the distributor. Any way to make sure that's the problem? this is a obd0 b16a dizzy
My 91 Integra did the same thing...mine squealed at idle but when you revved it,it would stop...you can put your ear or a mechanics stethoscope to the dizzy and listen, you'll hear it,or you can pull your dizzy out and try turning it by hand,is should turn freely if the bearings are okay.Get it fixed asap, worst case it could lock up and could possibly mess your timing up.I got mine from Ebay from DistributorKing for $155 and alot of people recommend them.Hope this helps and good luck!

All the time..
The two weakest links on a Honda
are the main relay and the distributor..
I rebuilt one with a bearing from NAPA #6001-2ZJ
and these instructions..Its a pain but it can be done..

If it locks up,
It can "jump time" and bend valves...
I would replace it asap if that is the problem..
If you don't have a mechanics stethoscope,
A long screwdriver or 3/8" extension will work..

The distributor uses an o-ring on the shaft which
should be on the new unit..
Installing it where it was will get you in the ballpark
but it would be a good idea to check the ignition timing..
If you go to http://www.hondacrx.co.uk/
You can download the "VTEC supplement"
which explains the procedure..
