Hey everyone. I have a 88 teg rs dohc with a d16 non vtec. The motor has 170000 miles on it. The car was sitting for about 8 months before i got it. About 2 weeks after I got the car It would choke out like it running out of gas if I pushed on the accelerator more than an inch, forcing me to shift up. I have since then changed my fuel filter, plugs, air filter, and have had 2 bottles of injector cleaner through it. I think it could maybe be my fuel pump or maybe I need new injectors. It does burn oil horribly but im trying to figure out if this has anything to do with my choking out. It dosn't choke out all the time though. Just maybe once every 2 weeks or so and I just park it at my house and the next day its fine. If possible just let me know what u think is wrong and how to fix and about the cost to get fixed by a shop. I greatly appreciate the help!!! Thank you.

 

i have the exact same problem. and i changed everything you did. i even bought new headers and cat. because a friend told me it could be that my cat is congested and not sending and air out just going back in making it bog so much. if you find out your problem can you lmk. because my car is at my ex girlfriends house and i need it back asap haha. don't wanna tow just fix and drive it far far away from her. my fuel pump doesn't seem to cut out when i give it gas either so idk. so good luck with yours if i find the solution i'll let you know.
