Default swapping Dx tranny to Si tranny.

im hopefully getting a si tranny out of a Crx tomorrow and people tell me that the si tranny is geared a lot lower than the dx tranny which is in it now, so how hard is it to drop the dx and put the Si in, can it be a one person job? does it bolt right up? i think i know it wont work if its a 88 cuz i hear there hard to work with anyways.. plz help thx

88 transmissions have a different number of splines on the input shaft make sure your clutch has the same number.

yes it bolts right up... it can be a one person job, i'd rather have my brother on the ground pushing the transmission in the air myself i don't know if it's geared that much lower...if you do a search it has been covered many many times.

i'v read that the Si tranny out of a crx Si is more of a racy transmission than the Dx for sure the dx have to wiend out on the start to keep from stalling which a Si geared lower meaning not as hard to stall= better acceleration

The Si tranny is geared the same as the DX with a higher final drive. Unbolt the DX tranny and bolt the Si tranny. Might want to do a clutch job while you're at it.

i changed my si 5th gear, was very easy...take of bearing, all the syncro ****, then the gear...slide new one on... though i have no idea if a cx 5th will go into an ex.

si and dx trans have the same 1-5 and reverse. The FD in a DX is 3.88 and in the si its 4.25
