Default Pics from Dunville Autodrome lapping day July 29th

It was run by a Subaru club. It was my first time out at Dunville so I was trying to learn the lines while all those damn STI's kept rolling on me.. lol

This is the same track the Lotus' ran on last week.
Enjoy..

Yea I know.. it was "optional" although highly recommended. It's the first event that I've been to where it was optional. It was hot as hell out that day so I had it off for a few laps..

took my buddy and I about an hour and a half to get there from Toronto..

The track is pretty technical and very fun to drive. I spent the good part of the session just learning the lines. The STis looked like they were just going for a walk in the park..

At one point the chicane wasn't setup correctly .. since everyone was blasting right through it, I heard a few cars were hitting 170km/hr down the straight.

The white z4 that you see in the pics is actually an m-coupe.. debadged..

Very nice looks like a lot of fun. Always wish I get to run in one of the track in ON like Mosport or Shannonville!

Like everyone said wear a M2000 rated helmet AT LEAST. And HOPEFULLY u don't have to "make use of it" at all.

i ran few times with no helmets before. but i'm not about to go out there racing other people or anything. it's just lapping day. not a race event. just take it out there and take it easy and just have fun. you dont need to drive your car all out when you're out there. and to make it not dangerous. you can just let guys that gets right on your *** pass you. BUT **** happens sometimes. so you better wear the helmet. but again. you dont wanna get into ANY kind of accident at the track.. it's not gonna be fun lol

I am by no means a safety **** who likes to call people out on what is safe and unsafe.... but dude, this event is pushing it too far.

If helmet is optional, they should have some kind of speed limit. And look at the flagger, it cracks me up when I saw this pic. No flag station? It looks more like some dude holding up a China flag protesting:

after the chicane was setup properly, the track slowed down quite a bit. Tthere are only 2 short straights.. This is by no means a very fast track, it had lots of turns, suited for cars that handle very well.

High horsepower cars who tried to power their way around the track did not do very well.. as many went off roading..

The cars were all at a stop in that photo.. when the red flag went up, I remember him running out so that everyone could see the flags.. all the cars all stoped and lined up by the enterance.

>It looks more like some dude holding up a China flag protesting:

... lol

and Yes, this event was not nearly as safe as some of the events that I've been to.. passing was allowed on the straights however, signaling was required..

If you know the organizers, please make them very aware of the fact that this is still a very dangerous "sport" and start to mandate all the safety rules possible. I keep hearing people say that we are only one lawsuit away from being totally seized from having track days (due to insurance)....

I have packed up and gone home after 5 minutes of track time because of poor safety concerns. When I’m driving at speed I need to know that the people I share the track with have the same attitude towards safety as me.

Let’s go down the list:
- No helmets
- Passing allowed (in designated areas)
- Instructors?? (Doubt it)
- Cars going off road
- Passengers with arms practically hanging out (as seen in many of the photos)

I don't think I would have even unloaded my car...

It’s clear that many of the participants at this event lacked track experience, which in itself is not a problem, but combined with poor even organization is a recipe for major trouble. I'm glad know one was hurt.

Wai,

That photo is funny. Looks like the guy is holding his index finger waving it left and right telling the cars you've been very bad.

Having no helmets is dumb.

What's even dumber is the last time I was at Dunnville and it was organized by some Ferarri club member they encourage NOT to wear helmets, or if you had one and your passenger didn't don't wear one at all.

I was like WTF. I left earlier in the day because of the lack of organization. But it was still fun to run with those Elises's.

dude is actually on a 2-way walkie talkie ..

It was a pretty small group, so even with the lack of organization everything went pretty smoothly. There were no more than 13 cars on at a time that I recall.. People just went out.. did some lapping and pitted and went back out when they were ready.

A few cars had spun out, or lost it in a corner and went straight out onto the grass.. nothing that you don't see in any track day. Good to see that they went straight out instead of trying to bring it back onto the track.

In the briefing there were 3-4 complete n00b drivers, while everyone else had some track experience.
