Default Why do people ride 'Busas?

So I saw a guy commuting on a 'Busa today and thought to myself "Why?" They are heavy, they have more power than you can use on the street, they get crappy gas mileage (relative to other bikes), they don't look comfortable, they look like ****, they aren't cheap (relative to other bikes)...

Someone help me out here...

Yes, but they're "cool."

Oh, and it's fun to tell the **** bags at the club that your bike goes TWO HUNDRED!!!!!

Apparently they are quite comfortable for long rides. You probably don't have to shift as much riding around town or on the highway with all of the power and torque. Plus beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

i've sat on my friend's in arlington and it's actually quite comfortable. I think they sound pretty good as well.

my guess is personal preference.

apparantly you have never been on a busa.

A. yes they are WAY more comfortable than your average sport bike. Remember it's a sport touring bike.

B. they get just as good of gas milage may be -3mpg differance.

As far as looks to each his own. I personally think VFR's are fugly as hell. And i'm not sticking up for busas, it's just the old mans sport bike. I like calling them big katanas and making the riders get all pissy.

One could say the same comparing your bike to a Honda CB350/360 - how would you defend yourself in that case?

Form follows function with the 'Busa. They look that way for aerodynamic purposes. I love how they have not changed, appearance-wise, from the day they were released.

I love them and would own one in a heartbeat. They aren't that expensive, and they are comfortable as hell.

They have more power than one knows what to do with, sure. But so does a 600SS.

So does a Ferrari 360 Modena and it's frickin' gorgeous. Aerodynamics and beauty are not mutually exclusive.

Nice analogy...except it's a car, you freaking jackass!

Find me a bike that has a lower Cd (or is it cD?) than the 'Busa.

I'd rather have a VFR myself...but I have a lot of love for the Suzuki and its singular place in two-wheeled history.

So because it has two more wheels it has the luxury of being pretty and fast?

The gain in coefficient of drag is only useful at ridiculous speeds. How many riders are really using that?

There's no such thing as too much aerodynamics or too much wind protection. Take it from the guy who rides a naked bike that weighs around 350 lbs.

I'd GT on a GSX1300R, CBR1100XX, ZX14, etc. they look awefully comfortable.

Yeah but how many riders are actually using the incredible performance of just about any sport bike? Not many I'd wager.

The Busa to me is kind of like the Supra. Not really my thing but both are(or can be) massively fast in a straight line and are sort of cult icons in their own right.
