Default COMPUSTAR INSTALL - DESPERATELY NEED HELP!

This install is breaking me in half, primarily because the "directions" from compustar is nothing more than a vague diagram.

So it's 3am and I'm giving up for the night. I have everthing installed except for the whole CN1 harness. I can't figure it out. It's the one with the pre-wired relays. How do I wire this bitch?

I would be more detailed, but I've lurked here in the past and I seem to remember that a couple of A/S/V regulars installed Compustars on a regular basis. It's a 2wss-as btw.

What is the MM&Y of the car it's going into?

Is the car auto or standard transmission?

What is the brains model number, [should be CM3000, CM3200, CM3300 or 2000AS] or something like that?

IM me with answers to the above. 94

Hey I feel you, I just started carrying compustar, great alarm but the instruction really, really, really suck azz. Sp told me they were biotch, esp for a noob. I can't beleive they don't program the remotes before they leave the company Had me sitting there with my@#$@ in my hand. wtf.

The whole relay thing is blowing my mind. The diagram/directions don't say anthing about relays.

This helped a lot: http://www.staub.ca/tech/Manua...l.pdf

But I'm still confused about Pin #3 on connector one. It says (at the bottom of the page) that:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">*Pre-wired relay: There is a purple pigtail and also a blue wire that is the
same length as the rest of the wires in CN#1. This relay is used for
adding a 2nd ign or 2nd acc or a 2nd starter in conjunction with connector
#2.</TD></TR></TABLE>

First off, what pigtail are they talking about? There is a purple wire, but no pigtail. Also, where does this purple (and blue) wire connect to? I don't know what all the "second ignition" talk is about.

Also, one of the wires at Pin #3 is supposed to go to constant power, just like Pin #1. If they both go go constant power, why are the separate wires to begin with?

I'm guessing separate wires should go to separate sources, so if one fails you have an alternate power supply

i've only installed about 5 of them, and it was over a year ago, but i'm pretty sure unless you are using the starter kill from the brain, you can just cut off that relay plug.

that second relay is only used if you need to power a extra ignition-accessory-or starter wire like on some cars . The relay is pre wired so to trigger it you would hook up the purple wire to one of the outputs on cn2 that become active one sec before the remote process begins. pick one of the output ie-ignition-accessory-starter. for your app. . Had me too till I talked to fcm. I so use to dei. and compustar is laging on the details. this should put you on the right track

The 2 constant power leads have to be hooked up to any constant power source that can deliver the same current as the ign. switch does, in the case of your car that is the one constant power input to the ign. switch, [it has all the current needed for both the remote starts constant power input wires. 94

Oh, so it's just a free relay? I guess I can use it for my AVC-R install.

np. Special thanks to fcm because I got the info from him about a hour before you did. It was my first crack at remote start with the compustar. I just reworded what he said. to fcm

Yeah Compustar instructions suck. They were obviously written in the same sweat shop that assembles their alarms.
