Default civic type R spring/ shock combo

i got a 96 civic hatch and its got the oem shocks and springs, i need to get something different i got a leaking shock and i got a friend who has some oem civic type R shocks and springs i can get them for like $100, what do u think? i plan to upgrade to some koni's and eibachs or coilovers later but am trying to conserve funds for a motor swap and some paint work- since an uninsured motorist ran a redlight and hit me in the front- i dont want to turn it in b/c it will raise the ins on my bike alot so im fixing myself

anyway what do u think about the CTR springs and shocks? i would like it to lower my stock height some but right now i am trying to conserve for other bigger and better things and am unsure if this is a deal or not, i mean i dont want it b/c its jdm i need some shocks and i know Si springs/shocks are better performing that Cx issued ones i have now so i thought CTR would be better also
