Default my new teg

my sister has a 1990 integra. its really messed up and breaks down alot so she said if i want it its mine. so i drove it to my house to work on it, i wan tto keep it but only if i can make it a reliable car again. with that being said....

im pretty sure the exhaust is clogged up and it might need a tune up. when i drove it the was a rattle coming from the exhaust and everytime i floored it i just got lound and felt slower; so i think its sucking more in than it can put out, not getting enough air in, or not burning clean

So what else do you guys recomment i check? maybe fuel system?
also if its the exhaust whats a good aftermarked thats also cheap? i dont want to put too much money into the car since its my dd for good gas milage

thx in advance

If you're at all concerned in conservation.. tuning i don't think is the right path. Though, if you are looking to do an upgrade I suggest doing some research, setting goal's etc.; stock is always a viable option, other than that.. just make sure you decide in the end to pick up someting quiet.

_* so people are able to help you more*_

State;

1. how much you're willing to spend

2. what kind of gains you would like to make i.e. hp

3. what are your future plan's and be realistic, if you're not experienced mech. wise.. i wouldnt suggest setting that bar too high it could be rather expensive.

Good luck.

if i need to repolace the exhaust im goin aftermarket. I do have experience with cars and of course i want some power to make it a fun dd but still get good gas milage. Over all i have like $3k to spend but i want to spend the least amount possible since i need to safe up for school, that money also includes giving my sister some money for the car and getting it running.

I was thinking maybe swap the newer ls into it since the gsr is too much and then get an intake and full exhaust on it. how much would i have to spend on a ls engine w/ trans and ecu? just an average to give me an idea or just tell me where a good place to look would be

If you're looking to get some more power i/h/e won't do your car a lot of justice, do a complete tuneup, replace all the fluids and get the car running the way you want it.. then once you have lil' more buck saved up. I suggest ls/vtec (reliable and a lil' more fun fr dd) or an ls/boost setup.
