i have a 1990 civic dx 1.5 and with a blown engine, and my friend just gave me a 1994 civic 1.6 engine, im gonna drop it in the car some time in the future, only prob is i dont have the wire harness for the 1.6 engine, can i modify mine to fit the 1.6 engine and obd1 cpu, or do i have to find the harness for the 1.6.

Yes, that is how we do swaps. You always use the harness from the car that is getting the motor. You will need to modify your harness form 2 injector to 4 injector, and depending on wether the new engine is VTEC or not possible convert to OBDI. If the new engine is non-VTEC I would just run it using a PM6. If it is VTEC I'd conver to OBDI and run a P28. There are some great links to write up's in the CRX/EF Civic forum in their FAQ.

this 1.6 liter? is it vtec or non? If it is a non-vtec I have a 92 civic cx obd1 harness complete that I would be willing to sell you.

Then you would need an obd1 ecu and an obd0 to obd1 harness and everything should work. Although if I am wrond someone will correct me.

plus with your dx civic do you have dpfi or mpfi because if it is dpfi you will need to convert to mpfi to run any engine with 4 fuel injectors.
Here are a couple of links also try searching as this topic has been well covered.

the 1.6 is not vtec, i have the complete engine (block, head, intake, exhaust) except for the harness, i have the cpu also, so will i need just the harness to make it work or will i need something else, also how much would you sell your harness for?

It doesn't work like that...

Civic's that generation use a 2 piece harness design, where the engine harness and the vehicle harness are seperate. An OBDI engine harness WILL NOT plug in to the OBDO vehicle harness.

Like I said above, you have to modify the stock harness that came in your car.

And since the engine is non VTEC, a PM6 ECU from 88-91 Civic/CRX Si's will run that engine just fine. You will have to swap to an OBD0 Si distributor (from the D16A6) in order to keep the your car OBD0 And If you really want to get picky convert it to OBDI and run the ECU that came with the new engine.

ok so i need the cpu and distributor from the 4th gen Si and to convert my harness to 4 injectors, and everything should work fine??
how to i convert the harness to 4 injectors?

and also since the is just a beater car i dont care about power for this car, can i just use my intake manifold from the 1.5 engine?? and not change anything?

sorry for all the questions, i just wanna try and get this right the first time

Check out the FAQ thread in the EF/CRX forum, there are tons of great links to write up's on how to do the 2 injector to 4 injector (DPFI to MPFI) conversion.

Here's the link to the FAQ thread...

You could, that will save the hassle of converting to MPFI, however, if the new engine has an intake mani. and injectors the conversion is very simple and is well worth the effort.

That is what I like to hear, if you have any other questions, post them in this thread or PM me, I'm always happy to help.
