take-off tires?? How do you feel
Hey guys, There is a local guy here who will sell me race take-off for $50 a set. Pirelli diablo supercorsa's. what do you guys think about this?? Ive ridden with the guy on the street and he rides preatty mellow, Im sure the tires havn't been through any crazy heat cycles or anything. Do you think its dangerous to buy these tires?? $50 you cant really go wrong??
yeh they do, they are a soft side compound and medium middle, but they should last 1-2k miles maybe... not bad for $50 though and I imagine the traction when you were riding them would be awesome.. but ive never used track tires on street so who knows.
If you can mount/balance your own tires, then go for it. Otherwise, you'll be throwing money away on tire changes.
And $50 is a bit high. Of course, that depends on the condition, but I wouldn't pay over $30 for takeoffs.
The SCs won't be as good on the street since it will require more time to get heat into them.

sorry thats $50 canadian, which is like $40 US....they are in good shape, prolly 75% remaining....
I can't mount and balance em myself, but I have a shop that cuts me a hell of a deal.
just take longer to warm up right?? that shouldn't be a problem so as long as i know not to go too nuts without warming em up good.

i would do a little more research on the tire before you decide to use it, i would suggest that for anything. using power races on the street, usually a bad idea. i'd think the same for the diablos

Humm i'll have to see what I can find, thats why I asked on here cause I wasn't sure if they would get hot enough to provide the traction nessessary

The only crash I've had to date were on cold Michelin Pilot Race track take-off tires.
I've also ridden the same tires in the wet without issue so take it for what it is.

At the time of the crash, I had only been riding for a month or so.
Having gone to some advanced rider training and having some more riding experience, I am sure as much or more of the blame rests on my riding abilities as on the grip of the cold tires.

Ahh yeh, a n00b mistake. We've all made em...Im kinda thinking Im not gonna go for them now, sooooo much cheaper than buying new PP's though. Anyone else have experience riding track tires on street?
