Looking at buying a 2001 CBR 929 from a dealer. bikes got 14K on it, its in real nice shape, dealer is asking $6900 for it. NADA blue book lists the bike at low, $4430 and average $5825. Do you think i could get the dealer down to 5000? what would you pay for it?

 

I highly doubt you can work a dealer down $1900 but it's worth a shot.

yeah prob, but they would still be making prob 1500 or so on the sale right?

 

I know the dealers here make between 1k and 2k on their pre-owned stuff depending on the bike. is NADA a retail price book? or wholesale, cause you cannot use wholesale values on something you expect to buy for retail. Id say youd be LUCKY to get the dealer down to 6k...no way in hell youd get them down to 5k, these arn't domestic made cars were talking about where there is $7,000 markup in them...

ive gone to 3 banks to get a loan and they wouldnt give me a loan unless the total (loan & down payment) were less then NADA value

 

6900 for a 929rr? u got to be kidding. That thing is worth at most 5k. U can get 954rr for 6k and 1000rr for around 7500

anywhere and everywhere, Im in the airforce so i move around but this last year has been ridiculous! Ive moved 3 times in the past 7 months. Im finally going to be in one spot for more then a few months so I found it to be a good time to get another bike. Oh i cant wait!

Right I hear ya on the bank loan thing. I forgot about bank loans, I don't use em for my bikes so i didn't even think about that....but that is preatty damn high for a 929 I agree with 600rr guy....

Ahh i see, airforce keeps ya busy....was thinking it had been a long time since your last post

 

theres a dealer here with a 929 w/ 167 miles for 6900. i wouldnt pay more than that for any other 929 unless it had less mileage

yeah, everytime i read about people paying 11k otd for a new 600 i cringe.
