stupid question about Spoon head gasket.
I just got a 'one-layer' Spoon gasket. It's black and has two layers of material. Does that sound right or is it truely a two layer?
I thought those were discontinued! They probably sent you the two layer one since they discontinued it. Check with the place you got them.
baah, doesnt matter which one it really is. I'm not too concerned. I just wanted to find out which one it truely was so I could figure out what compression I would be running. I can always mill the head a bit to bump the compression up a touch to make up for the difference. Just didnt want to touch anything until I knew which one i got.
Quoted from inlinefour.com...
"The Spoon 1ply head gasket is measured at .40mm while the Spoon 2ply is measured at .45mm. Depending on your engines configuration, you can expect to raise compression levels by 0.4. This piece is not actually a 1 piece headgasket, it is only classified this way, because it's a 2 piece that is thinner than the actual Spoon 2ply head gasket."
Just measure your headgasket and find out for sure

sweet, glock, i most certainly appreciate that. you're the first person to get me all that info in about two days. In fact, you're the ONLY person.
i'm about to find out.
the way i see it, if it turns out i want to lower compression for forced induction, i can always go back to a stock or thicker gasket.

using the spoon headgasket is fine if you dont mill the head, it like the mugen head gasket raises the compression safely, its fine for street use. make sure you get the low temp. thermostat and 1.3kg/cm² radiator cap also if you like to "race" the motor. Mugen or Spoon has both items. if you have problems finding it email me.
