94 Accord baugs out when u first accelerate WHY???
in 1st adn the begining of second when u floor it all it does is baugs out for 2 or 3 seconds then takes off.. what could be causeing this???
fuel filter????
fuel filter????
hey,
my friend has a 92 accord LX and his did the same thing, I aggree with the other response but I think it is the o2 censor. it isn't reading properly therefore is starves the engine from gas for a moment or two then it snaps out of it. I hope this helped

the thing is that if it was the o2 sen. the cel would light up, and through a o2 code. You are right that the ecm controls the amount of fuel threw the o2 though. first you should check the fuel pressure. that will determine if the fule filter or pump are bad. also check your main relay.

A "lazy" O2 sensor can cause this exact problem, without triggering a CEL.
If I had to lean towards one possibility, I would say it was the O2 sensor.

yep I made that mistake, you think you save a little, but end up spendding more. Also I didn't know it wouldn't throw a code. Is that only on intermitent probs?

No... In my experience, O2 sensors go bad gradually. At first, the only symptom would be a very slight hesitation after the car is first started, but when warmed up everything is fine. Then, as the sensor gets worse, the stumble/hesitation gets worse. Eventually, the CEL will come on.
Of course, the heater circuit can go bad almost instantly, but that would trigger a CEL before you would notice any problems.
JonCoop,
Here are the things that I would recommend checking:
1. O2 sensor
2. Clogged fuel filter
3. Ignition timing
4. spark plugs

cool learn something new every day. thanks philadd, but with the o2 heater, is there any cheep and easie way to fix this? I know get an oem sens, damn there just so expensive.
You could add a resistor inline on the heater circuit, which would fool the ECU into thinking the heater circuit is performing normally. However, I think it would be best to just replace the sensor. O2 sensors have to be at a high temp to work correctly... I think it's something like 600* F. The heater circuit is works to get the sensor up to that temp.
thanks guy for every thing...
i just replaced the o2 sensor with no noticable difference.. im gonna change my fuel filter tomorrow..
i changed my spark plugs and wires a month ago also with no difference..
i used $2.00 autolites.. is there a noticable difference between them and some ngk's???
thanks

if thats doesn't help i recommend you check the sock on the fuel pump for debris buildup. i have been suffering from shitty gas tank(rust) depositing crap all over the sock and causing jerking. i changed the pump once and now its back again, i should of did it right the first time and changed the gas tank too...i'm hoping i dont have to get another pump.

I don't think the spark plugs matter too much, but did you change cap and rotor too?

If you are having a problem with the gas tank, that could very well be the problem in itself. I personally have not seen an issue with rust on the inside of the gas tank, but it would definitely cause some problems. If you have a lot of loose sludge on the bottom of the tank, that could cause problems as well. If it's sludge, you can have the tank cleaned out. If it's rust... well, you'll need to get a new tank.
As for the plugs, I don't believe there could be enough difference between the two brands to cause any issues, assuming that they are correctly gapped.
