I'm not sure because I'm not a Honda guy but I have the smaller Type S intercooler on my 240sx and I am at 407Hp and it works ok, but I know if I go any higher I'll need a better intercooler or an intercooler sprayer setup. If your looking to be right around 400 I would think your fine but if you think someday you'll want more it might be worth getting the larger one. Also the SSAutochrome that everyone hates so much actually makes very nice intercoolers that a lot of 240 owners are switching from their Greddy FMIC's to the SSA FMIC!

*Type 31 Intercooler is 195mm x 600mm x 76mm
Type 24 Intercooler is 280mm x 600mm x 76mm

okay i guess i have the type 24 greddy intercooler which is a tad shorter than the type 31.. so will this intercooler be okay for a 400whp d16?

From the greddy catalog...

V-Spec core (max flow)
"This is ideal for applications with low to medium-high boost levels in factory turbocharged engines, or normally asprirated engines with bolt on turbo kits"

R-Spec core (max cooling)
"This is recommended for medium to high boost levels in higher hp or upgraded turbo engines. The larger internal surface area provides superior cooling efficiency for radiating excessive heat and minimizing heat soak"

All of the honda intercoolers are the V spec. I don't think it's what you're looking for, for your application.

I think you'll be fine. As I said mine is the V-spec core and I have 400hp and it works fine. I do think it could be more efficent with a better intercooler but with good tuning you'll be fine. I'm running 18psi with a GT30R and have no problems so far and I have driven it this way for over a year and many trips to the drag strip.

Is this correct that the type 24 is than the type 31 intercooler, thats what I thought? I know if you put in the type 24 intercooler you will have to modify your front bumper support and cut it. With the smaller type 31 you wont have to cut the bumper support. And it seems as if everyone is saying that the type 24 should be good for 350-400 whp correct.

type 24 is the smaller one than the 31 and with the 24 you dont have to hack up the bumper
