Alert!!! Ebay JGE titanium retainers
Just a heads-up for everybody: I recieved my retainers from ebay user engine-dynamics-usa and they were not tianium. Titanium should have a specific gravity of 4.5. The retainers I recieved were about 7.9, probably cheap stainless steel. I hope it was just a fluke as they were very soft. I dont think they would have lasted very long on a high reving engine. I dont know much about the company they supposedly came from.
if your Speaking about JG engine Dynamics (JGE) they are a reputable company that builds racing motors. They make alot of inhouse stuff like manifolds and so on. I have a pro series head from them and it has titanium retainers, seems like the person you baught them from just ripped you off. http://jgenginedynamics.com

Talked to the owner of jg, he says the ebay seller isn't affiliated with his company.

Hello everyone. My first post on this forum.
Thank you for the heads up. I appreciate this very much. We have used many different kinds of material through the years in trying always to improve our parts. Over the past two years we have really settled on two types of material. Military grade spec 2 6AL4V titanium and Chromoly steel. In the past we have had companies provide us with material to make retainers, gears, valves, etc for private label deals. How ever Our Jgenginedynamics retainers are for the most part titanium or chromoly steel. We stopped making aluminum retainers about 2 years ago although there may still be some floating around.
I don't know what would prompt someone to say stuff like that as things like that can be very hurtful. What that person should have done is call us and ask us about this. This is the professional thing to do. Not go on forums and make allegations. I normally do not go on forums but have created a user name to address this. If the retainers are not Titanium it would be easy to tell. Simply put a magnet to them. If the magnet sticks then the retainers have some phosphorus metals
in them and its a low quality Titanium or not titanium at all. If its chromoly the magnet will stick. If its aluminum then its obvious as aluminum. When checking a retainer with a magnet be sure to check it while it is not installed as the magnet will pick up the spring and appear to be magnetized.
Now it’s possible the gentleman that started this thread could have received some Chromoly or aluminum retainers by accident. They may even be titanium. I don't know as I did not sell them to him and have not seen them. What ever the case I hope that when you have a problem weather it’s with us or who ever that you will ask the person or company.
No hard feelings lets just make it right.
On a side note, we do not have an ebay store nor have we ever sold anything on ebay. Engnedynamics-usa is not a part of JGenginedynamics.
p.s.
Now that I have created a user name I guess I will stick around and try to pop in once in a while and If I can answer technical questions or address problems send me an e mail to jgredline@gmail.com and I will try and respond as quick as possible. I would be happy to answer questions. I love the SOHC very much and that’s why we still to this day make parts for them and will continue to do so.
As someone alluded to earlier. My forTay is not as a business man but as an engine builder and research and development specialist. If I were a good business man I would be rich, but I am very much like many of you on this board. I started like many of you on this board, in my garage at home. I have never forgotten where I came from.
Anyway Godspeed
Thanks javier

just about everything JG Engine Dynamics sells has "JG" only stamped or engraved into it.

I dont think I was being hurtful, wasn't my intent anyway. Just letting others know to make sure they are getting what they are paying for. Didn't think a phone call would help, thought it was your company running the auction. His ebay username is engine-dynamics-usa, maybe you can see a resemblance.
Allegations??? Ok. MY titanium retainers are not made from titanium.

A magnet did not stick to these as the seller was adament in telling me. However, a magnet will not stick to some types of stainless steel either. That is what I think mine were made of. The color of both is very similar. Maybe there was a mix-up somewhere?

well and that was your main intent. to make others aware of fraudulant ebay members posing as JGE and selling knock off stuff, you werent exactly downing the real company just the ebay person who is selling or trying to sell ''real'' jge stuff.
