Default checking oil???

just got my oil change done few days ago in my rsx-s .... i checked it this morning and im getting miss readings there is like a streak of oil going above the top hole on the stick but the thick oil line is below the bottom hole on the dip stick ... I don't know what to do .. im not getting any engine light or anything .. but I just want to make sure i don't ruin anything.!!!

compared to my prelude the oil reading in this car is really shitty!!

the thin steak of oil is prolly just from the stick rubbing against the sides when you pull/put in the stick. the real reading should be where the thick oil line is.

the owners manual that came with the car is always a good place to inquire a question like this, or ask someone at the dealership where you got it, this question seems like a pretty big waste of time, and i'm sorry to say that if you don't know how to check your oil you should be driving that nice of a car

How do you check your oil?

There shouldn't really be a streak. Take the dipstick out, wipe, stick it back in, whip it out, and read it then. I've never had a problem with it on my RSX or on my boyfriend's Prelude.

yup, the oil checking in the RSX blows some ***... my prelude was NEVER this hard to read... but if you check it when the engine is warm (hasn't been sitting to let all oil drain back to the pan) you will get it all up n down the dipstick. You will also get the wrong reading by up to 1/2 qt cause it has not drained down... I know this from watching my oil like a hawk!

Your not crazy... its pretty common.
