Default Any info here about a 78 CB400 Hawk?

Before I plunk the cash down, I'm open to any experiences you all have had with 78 cb400 Hawks.

Pic for reference.

I hear they make outstanding beginner bikes with easy to manage power, comfortable riding position, and reliable engines.

no personal experience, but a quick look on google makes me think what you've heard is probably correct.

if the price is right, go for it!

the one in the picture looks really good, if its cheap and you have mechanical knowledge I would get it.

I have not worked on bikes but I do have general mechanical knowledge. I'm conidered the "smart one" in the family when it comes to working on cars. Example: I know where the spark plug wires are! LOL

I would definitly bring it to top condition mechaically and I'm a clean freak. I own steam cleaners and all sorts of stuff. Sad really. Ideally I'd like to find one that is just somewhat neglected but with a good running engine.

if you have enough knowledge to work on cars then bikes should be no problem. personally, bikes are much simpler than cars once you become accustomed to them.

Did he give a reason?? What does he ride?

Ive been looking around at picking up a late 70's Honda CB bike. They can be pretty nice cheap bikes.

He has a 200x honda something. Looks like a Harley.

He was just saying its so old, and a bike needs to be structurally resound. I don't know what to do now. I really don't like any other bikes than this one. Really sucks.

You will find that most motorcycle folks - especially sport bike folks believe that if a bike is older than one or two years old, it is fit for the scrap heap. Don't listen to them. Get the bike, maintain it, ride it, and enjoy it.

Thanks. I think I'm still going to get one, but then get it inspected by a shop. After that, and with a safe report card, I'll keep it. Peace of mind FTW.
