B20A5 Tranny on a B16A... Opinions?
Well I was out in a buddys 88 Lude Si 4WS (4WS put a big smile on my face when I got to drive :D!) tonight and I noticed I could get up to 130 KM/H or so in third. Now, I am wanting to put a B16A into my CRX one of these days when I can save up a bit and was woundering what you guys would think of a B20A5 tranny onto the B16. I know (edit: think) all B-Series tranny's mount up to all B-Series engines so it would work, right? But would it be worth it? What are some ups and downs to this pair, I searced but didn't really find any useful info.
The b20a5 motors are funky I dont think it will match up with out somekind of homemade adaptor, Huh Could be wrong tho.....
your best bet would to get a s1 xsi 88-91 transmission or 88-91 y1 transmission with factory lsd. those are some of the best geared transmission for the b16. the xsi s1 has the gearing of the type r. the y1 has little longer gearing with comes with the lsd.
the s1 is going to be your best bet for accelleration aspects of the motor. the y1 will be good for turbo bc of the longer gearing (not ls long) but not as short as the xsi s1.
