quick set up, and wrong forum, i just like to ask, is it safe to rev your b20 up to 6800 or even close to 7000. i alway thought that factory redline for that motor is 6200
wrong forum? where should i have put it? ill request it to me moved. not tryin to be a smart a** or anything but whats your reason for thinkin its not safe? i know a guy that twists his to 9100 on stock sleeves. with aftermarket rods and pistons. most people say it has weak sleves but thats bull.

no its not. if you build it right, sure you can rev it higher, but the stock sleeves are still weak, they will break at a certain point. i personally would never touch a b20 unless it had aftermarket sleeves. but whatever floats your boat.

its not the sleeves that make a b20 weak its the sideward force from the long stroke the puts so much sideward force on the sleeves from the pistons. lookin at b20 sleves and b18b. the b20bsleeves the sleeves are as thick or thicker than the b18b. didnt measure with a micromater just from a eyeball point of few.

i havent looked into the stroke. i thought they where the same wsnt shure. from everything i have found on the b20 its not the sleeves that are weak its the sideways stress of the piston on the walls( maybe the bigger bore has somehtin to do with it). y would a company use a weaker sleve in a bigger motor to begin with? every thing i have read other than people just sayin they are weak explains y they crack and the have said its to do with bore and stroke not the weakness of the sleves

this is what i think and have seen, dont get me wrong i have a b20 as well...hehe one of the reason why it is bad...or can not handle the stress is due to the one piece sleeves, and hot spots at higher rev...over time those hot spots will crack...even small as hair line cracks...
