I may be visiting Royal Oak Michigan in the near future. How is the area? Safe for the ITR ? (I know you are thinking...I am worried about the safety of the ITR in Michigan and I live in NYC !! )

Any place you go now you are at risk. Just be smart about it. I would feel safe in Royal Oak, coming from NYC. But don't park in real secluded spots.

 

Royal Oak is pretty safe, but like any city just be care. When are u coming MI?

 

I think it's a pretty good area.. I think it has the general stereotype of being a 'yuppie' town. I think it's a really popular place for kids just getting out of college to get started in 'the real world' and all that..

I own a home in Royal Oak, What do you want to know? Royal oak has more Bars per capita than any city in Michigan, It tends to be a Collage Kid/yuppie hang out. Bike night is thursday night down town (you'll never find a parking spot). It is located in Oakland county which is the 3rd wealthiest county in the US..........As far a car theft in the area, It could happen anywere. I do know of a handful of Acura/hondas being stolen last summer. I'd be more concerned about door-dings around here. HTH

Bars, or bears?

Royal Oak also has more bears (and other wild animals) per capita than any other city in Michigan.

(The Detroit Zoo is in Royal Oak.)
