the 4th gen vtec used the h22a1, which had a closed deck. the 5th gen usdm base/sh/ss use the h22a4, which has an open deck. the h22a6 is only used in the Type-S and SiR, not available in any american Honda afaik. the h22a1 was rated at 190, the a4 at 195/200 depending on year, and the h22a6 at 220ps (217hp or something)?

i don't know what other differences there are between the a1 and a4 besides the deck/cooling jacket design. the a6 has a higher cr, different pistons, cams, etc etc etc. someone else can give you more info...

Just compression as all I come to find, alittle difference in head and cam between a A1 or A6, nothing I could'nt change with a A1--JDM or USA. With pistons slight cam work and some clearence. Any one differ from my opinion.

if you threw type-s pistons, cams, valve springs, throttle body, intake and ECU onto a usdm a1 or a4 i assume you'd get similar performance. there are probably easier ways to get another 10-15whp.

And you feel if I was to do the higher compression and the cam re grinds , cams as ............... So you would put a motor in a car that you just spent 2000 buck on in a car immedietly, no re-hon, or new rings, bearings, M point is all of this has to be done anyway, so all in all its just 3-500 bucks to achieve a sence of reliability,

Ya never know what later may bring.... 75 shot.. 8-10 lbs. boost, I only wanna do this once.

That sound like Im still in Highschool, but You get my point

sorry man, i have NO CLUE what you're trying to say. my point was that the while there are many parts of the jdm "type-s" motor that are different from a usdm h22a1 or h22a4, the performance difference is relatively small. what are you trying to do anyway?
