i have a 92 accord ex and was wondering about the cooling fans. From the front of the car; the fan on the left seems to come on as per normal, but the one on the right (condenser??) never seems to come on at all. the car runs at normal operating temp while on the highways, but heats up a bit when i'm at a stop. i replaced the radiator cap and it brought the stand still temp down a bit, but it still goes up there! any tips??

 

try replacing yout thermostat. it may have gone bad. also, check you radiator fluid level. it may also be low.

 

When your A/C is on, and the A/C compressor engages, both fans should immediately come on, regardless of the condition of your thermostat. If not, you have a bad fuse or fan or something.
I have yet to see just one fan come on on my car, it's always both at the same time, but each fan does seem to be on a separate circuit.

 

Yes. The right fan should only turn on when the A/C is on.

in my defense, he never said anything about AC being on or off. just said that one fan was runnning and car was temp was getting higher.

 

Yeah. I'm just saying a good way to test if both fans are working is to turn on the A/C.
