Engine whine after H22A swap and H23 manual tensioner conversion...
Just dropped in a JDM H22A into my 96 si, and everything runs great except there is a loud high pitched whine coming somewhere from under the timing belt cover.
The old H23 manual tensioner was swapped onto the H22A, and the new timing belt seems nice and snug. My friend that performed the motor swap said the whine sound could either be the manual tensioner or the oil pump. As far as I know the manual tensioner is good because it worked fine on my H23.
Could the oil pump on the JDM H22A possibly be making the loud whine?
did you use a new tensioner bearing or a new one....those bearings make that noise when they are bad
I used the old ones, but as far as I know they are good because they didn't make this noise on the H23 before it blew up.

Well...if its the bearing then I would replace it...I had one seize up on me and smoked my belt . Since we are on the topic lol has anyone ever takin a Nice(C) bearing or a skate bearing and put an air hose up to it... sounds just like a supercharger lol
