Honda CD Player/Speaker Question
Hi everyone, I just recently bought a honda cd player. I was thinking about upgrading my oem honda speakers too. (99 honda accord)
My question is, could the honda cd player actually support a higher power speaker w/o an amp? Basically, would it gain any type of better quality sound/power from them? would you recommend an amp w/ the below pair?

Thank you for your time.

Well, I don't have a '99 Accord, but I have exactly what you have described right now.
I just put my factory radio back in 'cause I'm trading the car in next week. However, my aftermarket speakers are still in right now. The speakers do still put out a good amount of bass and still sound really really nice, even on my 15 1/2 year old radio. I played a tape that had good bass still and then I tried my MP3 player on one of those tapes with the plug, and it sounded really really nice. It has Kenwood's all around (6.5" up front, 2- way, 6X9 in the rear, 4-way)

just find some good quality replacement speakers, I ran replacements until I got an amp for them and they sounded good (better than stock) but the amp does make a world of difference

sorry to burst your bubble but
upgraded HU>OEM hu with better speakers.
and another thing about upgrading amps, if you are running stock HU with amp, you are not getting better sounds, it just makes everything louder
the oem hu and speakers are designed to work together in low watt, they are more than enough for alot of people out there.
Like everything else, it's depends on your budget.
if you only can afford one things now, go for better HU, some of the low end alpine hu is less than 2 bills.

I have a stock head unit and it definately sounds better with some new speakers. I got some xplod's at one of those "flea market" and they made a world of difference compared to the stock speakers with the whizzers on my 94 accord. When it gets a little cooler outside I will change out the speakers in my '98
