Default D15B

hmm i was looking at the engine of my dad and thats what i saw on the short block of its engine.

but i told my self how come he has a d16 manifold and a valve cover of a sohc 1989-91

The last owner said that it was an imported japanese engine..

When i look for d15b on the internet it gives me the 92 engine vtec..

is it possible that before the last owner got the engine. it was mixed or there is a true d15b with the same parts?

edit: srry its truly the zc sohc.....lol i was expecting it to be writen zc on the plate lol

I have an SOHC ZC and I can assure you, "ZC" is written on the plate.

d15b what? just staright out d15b? i dont remember which is hte vtec motor... if it was that it could be a swapped head(good ole chips + 10k rpm love droppin valves!) or, a d15b dual point converted to MPFI. i have a d15b8 w/ an HF intake manifold as a temporary motor in my car. the SI intake manifold fits on it as well... *shrug*

Um...so what does the engine label actually read?

There were several D15b engines. Some vtec, some not...depending on the year. Just for 88-91 non vtec engines, there were three different hp variants (91/100/105PS). All simply labeled D15b.

many motors from japan are labeled d15b all the way from 88-00, both vtec and non-vtec. the crx d15b was originally a carbed motor, so the parts were probably transfered over from the orginal motor. this information is out of the honda brochures.

Just D15B.....i started to laugh at my dad because of that. my car its written d16a6. I still beat him on the 1/4 mile. even if my engine has 200k +and started to burn oil when i rev it hard. I guess he just doesnt shift as well and as far. he is more of a torquist anyway.
