Default CL-S Sway Bar Installation on 2000 Accord DX!

Well, right now I am at work (I work at a Nissan & Honda dealership)... and work has been slow, so my friend and I decided to go ahead and pull my car in and get my new sway bars put on. Let me tell you, I have the funniest looking Nissan you'd ever seen Anyways, it took about 45 minutes, pretty easy installation. I have some pictures that I will upload when I get home, and I'll do a write-up on the installation when I get a chance. Now I just can't wait to go test it out

Parts:
27.2mm Cl-S front sway bar
17mm Accord V6 rear sway bar
CL-S front brackets and bushings
Accord V6 rear bracket
AV6 rear bushings
AV6 rear endlinks

The bars were only $20, shipping was nearly triple that...
I went to Honda for the Accord V6 parts, my price was about $50 for the endlinks and everything. My warning to you, standard customer price for all the stuff I bought was almost $250! The endlinks come as a kit, which is rather pricey. I suggest finding someone you know that can get the stuff at employee pricing! The Honda dealership would not order me Acura parts, though they had Honda stamped all over the package when I got them... The CL-S brackets and bushing only ran me I think $14. Keep in mind, I needed a lot of extra parts because my 2000 Accord DX does not have any rear sway bar!

Installation:

1. First things first, we removed the old 24mm front sway bar. Fairly simple, just unbolt the endlinks and brackets and remove... The damn cat got in the way though... but we worked around it. Oh yeah, there is no need to remove the wheels to do any of this!

2. Next we prepped my 27.2mm CL-S front sway bar. That involved lubricating the new bushings and putting them over the new bar. After that, make sure you remember the position of the original bar, as that will save you a few minutes when you put on the new bar.

3. For the front, you do not need new endlinks, as your stock ones will work just fine. You will need new brackets and bushings since the new bar is much meatier than the old one. Once the bushings are on, get the bar in position. Make sure the endlinks line up correctly, and that the brackets will line up as well. We had the slight problem of one of the other guys taking the old bar down before we could mark the way it came down, so we ended up putting the new bar in backwards at first Bolt it all up!

4. You should have the front on by now... fairly easy to take care of don't you think?

5. For the rear, The DX trim did not come with a rear sway bar, so I was concerned if my mounting bracket would be setup for use with one. Luckily it worked.

6. For the rear, I used a 17mm Accord V6 bar. I bought new endlinks, brackets, and bushings. !Note! The nuts that came with my endlinks did not fit properly, though I bought them as part of a kit from Honda! I went back in the shop to parts and found I believe 8mm nuts and lock washers. Make sure you have nuts that will fit the endlinks!

7. The rear was just like the front, make sure your endlinks are properly positioned, and that your brackets will line up.

8. Here is where we ran into the most difficult part, which still wasn't that hard. On the passenger side, the mounting holes were difficult to reach due to the muffler. We opted to take the muffler down, which made it much easier to get to the holes.

9. After the endlinks and brackets were lined up, we bolted them down and made sure everything was tight.

10. Reinstall the muffler if you haven't already!

I have not had a chance to take the car out to test it yet, but I should be doing that in about an hour when I go to lunch. I have some pictures, not the greatest... but pics none the less. I'll put those on there when I get home tonight. I probably left some stuff out, but feel free to ask me about it. Hopefully it wasn't too hard to understand, and good luck to all!
