Default Question about civic type r

Does anyone know of a real civic type r in the states? Is it legal? If so what needs to be done to cross it over to american specs to pass through DOT? Thanks

I think at least the bumper support. Do you want the JDM or the Euro version?

there are several CTRs in CA alone, of which only one is street legal to my knowledge. I checked out two of them that were at IAS and both had DOT stampings on the windsheild.

Wait a minute. Does he want a 2002 CTR or the old one? I assume he wants the 2002 model because he said he is in Germany now. And in Europe you can only see/buy the 2002 model!!!

We can't/couldn't buy the '96 model CTR here in Europe. There are some imported JDM RHD CTR in the UK. The Euro CTR 2002 model is now available in Europe with 200 hp....

Friend at Honda Dealership in the Uk said the stated 200hp is abit under what it really makes just like the UK spec ITR's said they only had 187bhp but made way more whp then the US spec 195bhp verisons. After dyno testing on the new CTR's the actual bhp is around 210bhp as the only main differences from the J spec verison is the head gasket given slightly high compression ratio and the difference in Catlyzers and the higher octane used in Japan. The only interior difference is the recaros in the J spec CTR are red same ones used in the DC5's and the black recaros used in the UKspec are same as some verisons found on the WRX Sti edition just in different fabric.

There is a 99 in Wisconsin. A guy on ClubSi owns it. It was a restored wreck and it's equipped w/ a bunch of Mugen stuff. Very nice.

No emissions in WI.

There are emissions in WI, however I'm not sure how he passes. It's a pretty nice car, lots of Mugen products(2 mugen seats, mugen chin spoiler, mugen rear wing, mugen hood I believe, mf10's, mugen cat-back, and a VAFC & DVD player w/LCD screen. It's pretty a pretty close race w/my car.

I appreciate the info although I'm still looking for the specifics, sorry i dont get back to you within a considerable amount of time, works a bitch!! If you are interested in seeing the euro CTR you can go to http://www.honda.de/car/4358.html
its all in german but its pretty self explanatory you can see the specs and if you know just a little about what you are talking about. the price is about 22000 euro's which the the american dollar is about 90 cents to the euro. but anyways thanks for the info, if you hear of anything else let me know, i will try to respond as soon as possible.

The JDM also has LSD (Euro CTR not) and a lower and stiffer suspension. The difference between HP figures is caused by the correction value. We use the ECE/DIN norm while the US use SAE. There is also a difference between UK and Europe mainland. I do think the Euro 2002 CTR has more power than the RSX Type S but less than the JDM 2002 CTR.

Larger metro areas in WI have emissions but most of the rural areas do not.
