EK9 GPS Navigation system HELP and INFO.
Im intrested in buying this ek9 type R navigation system. but the problem is that the seller knows the DVD and CD works just not the GPS.
The stuff comes with Japanese maps and not the states or canada.
Now what i wanna know is. If i was to buy this can the GPS system work in the states and canada? I don't know if it takes Americas maps and stuff..anyone have this? also would this be a MONTHLY pay for the GPS. i just wanna use it once in a while..thanx ahead of time.

Alpine used to make all of Honda's "electronics" for USDM/EDM cars, and some JDM cars. If this nav unit is made by Alpine, you can probably get a map CD from Alpine for your region. The problem here is the discs are (or used to be, a few years ago) baout $200. Not worth it if its not going to work. The GPS should work... but it might not.
I do know that people have wired in a video signal with relative ease... and they make adaptors so you can get US radio stations.
Overall, it would probably just save you a lot of time and aggrivation if you just got an aftermarket headunit.
I recommend the Alpine IVA-W200
